Featuring Huggy Bear, women, guns, and “stuff you really like”: now that’s one magazine cover we’ll love to see revived on the shelves. Made in the 1990s, before Facebook and Twitter became the du jour means of showing some love, fanzines were low-fi publications made and shared with friends, all for the love of music.

With FRIENDSHIP as this year’s theme for the Baybeats festival, we channeled the spirit of making a zine, into a frenzy of hand drawn illustrations and cut & paste graphics for the Baybeats website.

This Christmas, we decide to send out some extra love by printing our own handmade, silkscreen shopping bags for clients, friends, and our friendly neighbourhood baker.

it took a few attempts to figure out the right technique to achieve a smooth finish. thanks to neng who’s our resident printmaker in TSL who’s an old hand at this, we didn’t end up with too many spoiled bags.

the whole process took some sweaty nights, late night dinners, and massive back stretching after, but it was all worth it when we saw these on our desks:
